ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating: Samsung Anycall Cup of China, Preview

The 2010/2011 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating continues this Friday with the Samsung Anycall Cup of China in Beijing. The Cup of China is the third of six events in the series. The skaters compete for a global prize money of US $ 180, 000 per individual event of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the top six skaters/couples will advance to the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.
Reigning World Champions Qing Pang/Jian Tong (CHN) lead the Pairs at the Cup of China and are looking to assure their spot in the Grand Prix Final. Lubov Iliushechkina/Nodari Maisuradze (RUS) come fresh off their victory at Skate Canada International last week and also want to book their ticket to the Final. World Junior Champions Wenjing Sui/Cong Han (CHN) debut at the senior scene. Other contenders include Nicole della Monica/Yannick Kocon (ITA), Amanda Evora/Mark Ladwig (USA) and Caitlin Yankowskas/John Coughlin (USA).
World bronze medalist Brian Joubert (FRA) headlines the Men's competition in Beijing. The main challengers should be 2008 European Champion Tomas Verner (CZE) and Takahiko Kozuka (JPN). Other contenders include Samuel Contesti (ITA), Tatsuki Machida (JPN), Sergei Voronov (RUS), Peter Liebers (GER) and Brandon Mroz (USA).
In the Ladies event, 2007 World Champion Miki Ando (JPN) will face Mirai Nagasu (USA), Akiko Suzuki (JPN) and Alena Leonova (RUS). Other competitors are Bingwa Geng (CHN), Min-Jung Kwak (KOR) and Kristine Musademba (USA).
The Ice Dance competition focuses on the duel between reigning World bronze medalists Federica Faiella/Massimo Scali (ITA) and Nathalie Pechalat/Fabian Bourzat (FRA), ranked fourth at Worlds in 2010. Other contenders here in Beijing include Ekaterina Bobrova/Dmitri Soloviev (RUS), Kharis Ralph/Asher Hill (CAN), Nora Hoffmann/Maxim Zavozin (HUN) and Madison Hubbell/Keiffer Hubbell (USA).

I haven't watch Miki skate yet. I heard she land 3-3! But according to scores, do think the judges DG her jump or something?

Here is Miki Ando SP video. I love her SP. She is so powerful. The 3-3 look fine to me. I wish she would have place higher. I love the sit spin that she did earlier. Very interesting position. Never see it before.
Mirai program was OK. I think her last year program better.
Akiko program is beautiful. The footwork it great too. It suit her perfectly.

Thks for the You Tube. I had checked Miki out right before I came over here but not Akiko. Excellent. Miki looks younger and more beautiful then ever. She can pull it out in the FS. Love that black outfit. Thks for putting all this stuff up for us.

Miki did it Rezev . Im so happy for her. I think she can win the GPF since I don't think Mao will be there although I'd love to see Mao & Miki on the podium together. Im in seventh heaven. C of C will be on NBC on Nov 14th I believe for big screen viewing. Thks for all your work on updates & results, everyone appreciates it.

Have you watch Miki exhibition yet? OMG, her 2nd footwork is incredible and she is so passionate. I haven't seen her perform so emotional like that before. She also looks beautiful in the white dress too.
